Girl Scout

Courage beyond her years

Standing up in public and talking about the benefits of Girl Scouts is not an easy task, even for an adult, but when you are a Brownie Girl Scout having the courage and confidence to represent your Girl Scout council to the public shows outstanding character qualities. Julia, a Brownie Girl Scout, has been able to overcome her shyness and stand tall as a girl representative for her Girl Scout council. Julia is part of the PR Star program where she, along with other girls, volunteers her time and talents to represent the benefits of Girl Scouting to the general public. I have seen Julia’s confidence grow through her involvement in this program. As coordinator of the program I have worked with Julia for three years. The first year Julia joined the PR Star program she was shy and unsure of herself, as would be expected from a first-year Brownie Girl Scout. However, in the three years since, Julia has grown into a strong, confident young lady willing to try anything new and reaching out to make new friends at every training she attends.
